1st Regiment Indian Home Guard.

The 1st Regiment, Indian Home Guard was organized in Le Roy, Kansas on May 22, 1862, Colonel Robert W. Furnas as Commander. While some Seminoles and Blacks were part of the regiment, most of the soldiers were Creek Indians.

 

2nd Regiment Indian Home Guard.

The 2nd Regiment, Indian Home Guard was held in South Kansas and the Cherokee Nation between late June and early July 1862, Colonel John Ritchie as commander. The regiment had a company from each of these nations: Delaware, Kickapoo, Quapaw, Seneca, and Shawnee, as well as two companies from Osage, and two from Cherokee.

 

3rd Regiment Indian Home Guard.

The 3rd Regiment, Indian Home Guard was held in Tahlequah and Park Hill in July 1862, Colonel William A. Phillips as commander. It was mostly composed of Cherokee.

 

4th Regiment Indian Home Guard.

The organization of the 4th Regiment, Indian Home Guard has started, but it has not been completed. The men were transferred to other organizations.
