Hostilities between the United States and Mexico began April 25, 1846 and continued until September 14, 1847. During the war, the United States and Mexico will experience dozens of conflicts, losing together more than 38,000 soldiers.

In 1848, the war between the United States and Mexico ended in Mexico City with the entry of American troops.

The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo puts an end to the war between the United States and Mexico. Signed February 2, 1848, it is the oldest treaty still in force between the United States and Mexico. As a result of the treaty, the United States acquired more than 500,000 square miles of valuable territory and emerged as a world power in the late nineteenth century.

A company of Amerindians served in the Mexican War. The Black Beaver's Spy Company was a company of volunteer riders from Texas. The members of the company gathered for service in San Antonio in June 1846 for six months. The names of the soldiers Na-noon-ska-ska, Long Tail and George Williams show the mixture of the Indian language, the English translation of the Indian name and the English name. This company had a total of 41 Indians, none were reported dead or wounded despite its commitments.
