2ND WORLD WAR - US ARMY SCOUT

Apache, a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He enlisted at Fort Apache in 1921. During these 27 years, he was a carpenter, truck driver and military police. He was also charged as Indian Scout hunt game to feed the soldiers.

He won the expert shooting badge touching a target 10 times over 600 meters.

 

He loved the army and enjoy years later told visitors how he and four other Scout Apaches were demobilized from the army:'' We toured the troops with our horses, and they all greet us, we were Scouts of the last American military and now I am the last.''

 

Sergeant Major William enlisted again in the Army as a Scout and Scout was the last serving at Fort Huachuca at his death in 1983.
