CCC

The Civilian Conservation Corps ( CCC ) was a work program established in the United States from 1933 to 1942. This program affect all men aged 17 to 23 years old , unemployed and single. It possible to provide jobs and boost the shattered by the Great Depression economy. At least 2.5 million people took advantage of this program which provided them more pay , clothing and food .

 

An entire division was devoted to Native Americans : CCC - The Indian ID or Emergency Conservation Work .

Enlist in the age group 17 to 35 years , it provided an income for Indians on reserves . She also created as schools and roads in the reserves.

 

At least 85,000 Indians served in the CCC -ID.

 

Why talk about a civilian in a military issue? Since the outbreak of the Second World War, the men of the CCC- ID were the only division asked to change their civil status in military status .

 

In January 1942, the Indian division of the Civilian Conservation Corps became a civilian unit to help the war effort , division led by the U.S. Army. These men were providing work for the army as a laborer in shipyard worker munitions factories , inventory controller , carpenters, truck drivers , radio operators , military engineer , supervisor and technician armed bases.
